Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using SafetyOS (safety-os.ai), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.

2. What SafetyOS is

SafetyOS is a public interest platform for AI safety discourse, risk tracking, and research coordination. It is operated as a philanthropic initiative and is free to use.

The platform provides information and community discussion for educational and research purposes. Nothing on SafetyOS constitutes professional, legal, or policy advice.

3. Accounts

You may browse public content without an account. Creating an account is required to post on the forum, vote, and access certain features.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. User contributions

By posting content on SafetyOS, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, distribute, and archive that content as part of the platform's operation.

You retain ownership of your original content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to post any content you submit.

All contributions must comply with our community standards: evidence-based, respectful, and constructive. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these standards.

You must not post content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or that incites violence. You must not post spam, malware, or content that violates any applicable law.

5. Intellectual property

The SafetyOS platform, including its design, code, and original content, is open-source and available under the terms of its respective licences.

Third-party content (research papers, external data) is attributed to its original authors and subject to their respective licences.

The SafetyOS name and branding are our trademarks. You may not use them to imply endorsement without our written permission.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use SafetyOS to: scrape data at scale without permission, attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, impersonate other users, or interfere with platform operations.

Automated access (bots, scrapers) is permitted for research purposes at reasonable rates. Contact us for API access or bulk data needs.

You may not use the platform to coordinate activities that would cause harm to individuals or groups.

7. Disclaimers

SafetyOS is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Risk assessments, severity ratings, and community discussions reflect the views of contributors and our methodology — not absolute truth. They should not be the sole basis for policy, investment, or safety decisions.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any content on the platform.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SafetyOS and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

Our total liability for any claim related to the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it (which is zero — it is free).

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.

10. Contact
